OPENING CEREMONY: Friday September 4th; start 08.30 PM SERC The Simulated Emergency Response Competition tests the invite, judgment, knowledge, and abilities of 4 lifesavers who, acting as a team, under the direction of a team leader, apply lifesaving skills in a simulated emergency situation unknown to them prior to the start. This competition is judged within a 2 minute time limit.
Pool Events Saturday September 5th; start 9.00 AM 50 mtr Manikin Carry The lifesaver swims 25 mtr freestyle and then dives to recover a submerged manikin to the surface within 5 mtr of the pick up line. The competitor then carries the manikin to touch the finish edge of the pool
Satuday September 5th; start 09.40 AM 4 x 25 mtr Manikin Relay: Four lifesavers in turn carry a manikin approximately 25 mtr each. A 4 mtr changeover zone is situated in the middle of the pool.
Saturday September 5th; start 10.15 AM 100 mtr Manikin Tow with fins The lifesaver swims 50 mtr freestyle with fins and rescue tube. After touching the turning edge, the competitor fixes the rescue tube around a manikin floating at the surface and tows it to the finish.

Saturday September 5th; start 11.05 AM 100 mtr Rescue Medley The lifesaver swims 50 mtr freestyle to turn, dive, and swim underwater to a submerged manikin located at 17,5 mtr from the turn wall. The competitor surfaces the manikin within the 5 mtr pick-up up line, and then carries it the remaining distance to touch the finish edge.
Saturday September 5th; start 2.30 PM 4 x 50 mtr Medley Relay Each of the 4 lifesavers has to swim 50 meters. The first one swims 50 meter freestyle, the second one swims 50 meters freestyle with fins. The third lifesaver swims 50 meter freestyle towing a rescue tube. After touching the turning edge, the swimmer hands it to the fourth competitor who is waiting in the water at the 150 meter mark, wearing fins. The fourth competitor takes the harness and the third competitor, holds the rescue tube with both hands while being towed 50 meter to the finish. Saturday September 5th; start 03.05 PM 100 mtr Manikin Carry with Fins
The lifesaver swims 50 mtr freestyle wearing fins and then recovers a submerged manikin to the surface within 10 mtr of the turning edge. The competitor carries the manikin to touch the finish edge of the pool.
Saturday September 5th; start 04.20 PM Line Throw
The rescuer at the pool edge throws a line to his team mate who waits at the 12 meter mark. After catching the line the victim is the pulled back through the water until the finish edge is reached.
Ocean
Some of these components will take place in series first. There is a distinction made between these gentlemen and ladies. When all the series have taken place, the finals will take place. Sunday September 6th Board race

The athletes start on the beach with their boards, enter the water and paddle a 600 mtr course marked by buoys, return to the beach, and run to cross the finish line. Sunday Sptember 6th Beach Flags
start series WOMEN 9.00 P.M. start series MEN 9.45 P.M. FINALS 11.10 P.M.
From a prone starting position on the beach, competitors rise, turn and race to obtain a baton (beach flag) buried upright in the sand approximately 20 mtr away. Since there are always fewer batons than competitors, those who fail to obtain a baton are eliminated.
Sunday September 6th Run – Swim – Run
start series MEN 9.00 P.M. start series WOMEN 9.45 P.M. FINALS 10.30 P.M.
With a running start on the beach the athlete goes into the water. Competitors swim around the 400 mtr course designated by buoys, returning to shore to finish with another run on the beach. Sunday September 6th Rescue Tube Rescue
start series 1.00 P.M. FINALS 3.00 P.M.
A team member swims to the assigned buoy and touches it. The next lifesaver that is equiped with a rescie tube and fins starts from the shore. After reaching the buoy, the competitor fixes the tube around the ‘victim’ and tows him or her back to the beach. The rescue is supported by two other team members who overtake the victim in the shallow water to complete the race by dragging the person over the finish line.
Sunday September 6th Board Rescue
start series 1.45 P.M. FINALS 3.45 P.M.
In this event, 1 team member of the team swims to a designated buoy, signals, and waits to be picked up by the second member of the team on a board. They both paddle to shore and cross the finish line on the beach with the board.  |
